by phone or email to learn more about eligibility. Adults receiving cancer care in the Louisiana area may be eligible. We will ask you a short list of questions to determine whether the project is a good fit.
The Project
The Krewe of Strength project is for people receiving cancer care in the Louisiana area.
People who participate in the project will help us understand how to improve cancer care in Louisiana. Participants receive informational resources like brochures, booklets, and/or videos that cover topics like tips for dealing with a stressful cancer diagnosis, family needs, managing the cost of cancer care, palliative and supportive care, tobacco cessation and lifestyle changes, and more. The community named the project Krewe of Strength because it's designed to organize a more collective level of support around cancer care in the region.
The project involves doing 4 surveys. The 1st survey takes is 40-60 minutes. Follow-up surveys are 15 minutes and happen at 2 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months. You can do everything online if you have a good computer. About half of people take that option. Alternatively, we can do a home visit for the 1st survey and then do follow-up surveys by phone. We are flexible. Project participants are compensated up to $300.
